Our Leadership

Sean.jpg

Sean Pierce, Lead Pastor

Sean moved to the capital region from Maine to attend seminary in Schenectady. After pastoring and church planting in Vermont and northern New York, he returned to lead a regional network of Baptist churches. He still leads this ministry part-time as he also leads River. His real passion is helping people experience life change that comes from knowing and following Jesus and then watching God use them in extraordinary ways. He is married to his college sweetheart, Susan. They have eight grown or mostly grown children, all living in New York. In his spare time, Sean loves spending time in the outdoors with his family. They backpack, hike, canoe, hunt, and fish. In fact, they have hiked the famous 130-mile Adirondack Northville-Placid Trail. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maine, a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Gateway Seminary. He has been an adjunct instructor for Davis College, Word of Life Bible Institute, and Mid-America. One fun fact, he’s a New England Patriots fan but don’t hold that against him, at least not too much.

Dan Hulbert, Associate Pastor

Dan grew up moving along the East Coast and settled in the Capital Region during high school. He met his wife, Lisa, while attending the University at Albany for his bachelor's and master's degrees. They married and settled in Guilderland over 20 years ago. They have 12 children, some grown and some still young. They spend their free time with their children playing board games, watching movies, and playing and watching hockey... the Boston Bruins of course.

Dan has been a high school math teacher for nearly 30 years and has served in many church leadership roles for even longer. He became a pastor for River of Life in 2018. His responsibilities include managing the business of the church and overseeing the children's program and our Life Groups. His hope for ministry is that people would surrender their lives to Jesus and seek to be more like Him. then everyone would hear the words of Matthew 25:21, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master."

Steve Hall, Pastor of Care and Hospitality

Steve was raised in Saratoga County. After serving in the military and graduating from SUNY Plattsburgh, Steve helped to plant Calvary Chapel of the Capital District. There he ministered on the church board, served as the youth minister, and preached in a supporting role on Sundays. In his late thirties, Steve decided to supplement his ministry experience and completed an extensive array of seminary courses. With nearly twenty years’ experience in education, behavioral management, and trauma recovery, Steve has a passion for helping people seek Jesus and His guidance to overcome struggles they may be facing in their relationships and daily lives. Having a passion for care ministry, he studied Biblical Counseling through Mid America Institute of Nouthetic Studies and is currently completing the Foundations of Biblical Counseling Program at Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF). Steve and his wife Megan moved to the Guilderland area in 2018 and quickly became part of the River of Life Family. Steve enjoys teaching, writing, restoring furniture, and spending time with his wife and their dog.
